Farewell Friend...

On the way home from camp we learned that our longtime friend, Tom Terry, finally lost his battle with cancer. The cancer might have taken his body, but his spirit will live on in all of us forever. Tom served his country for awhile, and served his family until his dying day. We'll never forget his piercing blue eyes or the way he could make you crack a smile without saying a word. Hope you finally got that pastrami sandwich and a beer...

After the Tulsa Trip Friday to Bass Pro Shop, we hit the lake that evening and did a little birthday celebrating with our dockmate Mark and his wife Susie. We stayed until early Sunday morning, then headed off to the deer woods to do a little scouting and visit the rest of the family. Nothing like doing a little of everything! It was great to be back on the mountain. Dale, Stacy, and Bruce did a lot of work before we got there and Camp looks great! We can't wait to get our trailer back out on the property. Bruce had his GIANT smoker on all weekend and the brisket was fall-apart-in-your-mouth tasty! We all walked part of the property, dropped off a few bags of salt at the hunting spots, and just sat around chit-chatting like we always do. Geez, can you smell it? Fall's just around the corner, you know what that means! We'll definitely be back for more maintenance very soon.

What a surprise to see Denny's cousin Nancy and her clan this weekend on our dock! They live in Muskogee and have been on Dock 7 for two years. She just happened to notice another Johns' name in the monthly newsletter and decided to find out what dock we were located on. Neither families realized the coincidence until now! They never even made it out of the cove that day. We visited, ate dinner, and watched the Bronco/Cowboy game, and got to know more about her and John's life with their two precious Beagles, Maggie and Penny. It was great to see you guys!

Doug, Mitzi, and Carter came to spend another zany weekend with us on the lake, they just keep getting better! Abbi was on Snake Creek with some mutual friends and we met up with her on Sunday to do some tubing. In the meantime, the kids played some 'Dock Hockey', the adults played some Poker, and we all jumped rope. It was all fun and games as usual. The weather wasn't the best, but the company sure was! Did I mention the hot tub???

Wow~it was so crazy to see our friends from Coalgate here this weekend! We journey every New Year's to see them at Bow Safari for some hunting fun and fellowship. We have never seen them outside of Coalgate, or out of their jeans and cowboy hats, so this was a real treat! Thank goodness the guys had some sunscreen! We loved the Hawaiian shirts and swimtrunks you crazy kids. Can't wait to see you during hunting season!

Camp many Mountains

Camp Many Mountains is a program of the ARC for the River Valley. We provide day camp and respite care to children with disabilities and their siblings. The recent summer camp was a great success so we held a garage sale this August to help us prepare for next year. Cooper helped man the Sunkist lemonade stand along with Mia's dog, Remi. It got a little hot, but Sandi, Linda, and I had a great time!

WOW! Dale and Stacy's new boat is amazing! Everyone's favorite feature is the jet ski lift, it's like a little island! We just can't seem to get enough of those weekends at the lake with family and friends, but we're definitely trying!

Denny and dad replaced the carpet with wood in our boat, it looks surprisingly bigger inside now. Come see us at the dock sometime!

The season's not over yet! We went on to play in district and state and did a super job. We didn't place, but the boys made new friends, played hard, and had so much fun! That's the real trophy...

Arghhh, Pirates did a great job! The team won league and ended the season with a swell swimming party, complete with trophies and yum-yums. Thanks mom and dad for the use of your pool! We are so proud of the way these kids played this season, way to go Pirates!

What started as dinner for four turned into a night of fun for eight...actually with the bridal shower, I lost count...but it was fun! We enjoyed a night of dinner, dancing, and...more fun!

What a super celebration for the new newlyweds! The wedding was quaint and it was so good to meet Rick's family and to see all of Jane's fam at the reception. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time! I wish you two much happiness in the years to come, you picked a great weekend to celebrate such a special day!

Finally, open season at the lake! Our first outing was May 24th. The water was still chilly, but the sun was warm and it was great to be back on the water with all of our friends! Matt, Denny, and the kids rode the wakeboard and tube while the rest of us swam, and swam some more. We always have such a great time and eat way too much, but it's the best!
